About
Gary Miller (FaithGraphite) drawing a potrait of India.Arie

The pencil is one of the simplest instruments, yet in the right hands it can create images that inspire, incite conversation, and stimulate the imagination.

Throughout the Bible, when the insignificant is given to God, He does the miraculous.

So for now, my medium of choice is graphite and my subjects are always people.

Why people?

Because of all God's creations, He cares about people the most.

Every individual is a work of art; unique and beautiful in their own way.

When I think of the word subject, I think of someone that I study and learn from. Someone that I have a connection to and, in a way, am fascinated by, especially when I hear their stories about how they overcome what many may consider insurmountable.

Their stories inspire me and leave me wanting to learn more. I use that inspiration and sense of connection to bring their stories alive in my art.

Every art piece I've drawn has a story behind it. Each one takes me back to that moment in time when I drew it. I remember how I felt. I remember what I was going through in life. So, each piece has its own story and personality, like children.

I take pride in what I do, and to see it come to life, or to reflect back on it, brings me a sense of satisfaction.

The older I get, the more I realize the importance of family and community. I believe that we build the world we want to live in. God has given me the ability to tell people’s story in a unique way. My art is a way that I build connection and community at the same time.
